Program Overview
In just one year of fully online study, you’ll explore disaster medicine, wilderness survival, emergency management, and tropical disease care. A week‑long intensive in Virginia, or a humanitarian mission to Peru, Uganda, or another partner site, lets you prove your skills in the field. Graduates earn the International Board of Disaster Medicine and Wilderness Life Support credentials, gaining the confidence to treat patients anywhere and coordinate medical teams during floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and other crises.
Courses are led by experts in disaster response, military medicine, and global health. The online classes let you keep your job while you study, and the practicum component gives you the hands on experience to plan, lead, and communicate under pressure. By graduation you will know how to build surge plans, direct teams with the incident command system, and protect lives when traditional systems fail.
The intensive option takes place the week before commencement, letting you finish your practicum and walk at graduation in the same trip. Or, step out into the world and bring impactful care to real communities in austere environements by completing a global health mission.
